My last Email about Australian databases was taken from Rootsweb Review.
This article was also in that same newsletter.
SOME SITES WORTH SEEING:
IRRC (Iron Range Research Center in Minnesota) has an online index of
about 1.5 million names. Minnesota focused, but has material several
from Upper Midwest states also.
The Review had one more article about using indexes as opposed to
using original documents. It points out that indexes are not all that
reliable no matter what agency compiles them. The writer suggests that any time
the data one is seeking is not found using an index that is not the time to
give up. It is the time to start going through the originals yourself to
find the documents that are missing from the index.
