Apparently, you have to know the exact Date and Port of Arrival to do a
search. You can't search by passenger like on the Ellis Island website. Am
I correct on this?
I have not used that website and I did not know it was not indexed.. It
may be necessary to start with the first year you know an ancestor was in
Canada and work backwards with each port of arrival.
It is tedious and inefficient but searching that way may eventually reveal
the ship on which that ancestor arrived.
I don't know if Canadian ships lists are at ProQuest. If they are there,
may be indexed like the US lists. If your public library has access to
ProQuest ships lists, check that out.
