Hello all! I'm new to the list, and looking forward to learning
more about the area and its history.
Joseph Czora, born in Prague (oral history) circa 1830-40,
married Margaret Milford, born England, in Prague in the 1850's
or early 1860's. They had four children: Susan, Sadie, Joseph
and Anthony. Before Anthony (Anton) was born, the family had
moved to Silesia, with Anton being born in Kreutzberg (now
Kluczbork) in 1864. Anton Czora married Anna Warsitz of nearby
Oppeln (now Opole), Silesia and moved to the United States. I do
not have any information on the other siblings.
Another part of the family oral history is that Joseph's parents
had immigrated to Prague from elsewhere, possibly Turkey, but
photographs, names, and inherited traits do not bear that out. I
have recently heard from another Czora in Poland (as yet no link)
that his oral history says that family came from Italy to Prague,
working on installing a railroad. Both my Joseph and Anton were
railroad engineers, and also glassmakers. They had made some
very beautiful church windows, stored in caves during the wars,
and 1-2 pieces of cut glass are still in the family today.
Any and all help or clues are appreciated! Thank you.
