Hi Dennis, The map is very detailed and looking for Primda/Pfraumberg , I
got Roszhaupt/ Rozvadov, also Lesna/Schoenwald and surrounding area. The 1 :
400 000 scale gave area well, from the german border to Bor/Heid. Herb
Schwarz <schwarzs(a)ebtech.net> - Tachau/Tachov is just outside the map. The
map too shows the new motor-way from the border area.

Herb, Ed, and everyone else,
It is great to hear of others with connections to the Tachau
area. I get disappointed when I search through archives
of this list and see so few mentions of it.
It's interesting that you mention a German-Bohemian settlement
near Pittsburg from this area. You mentioned Rosshaupt.
One of my relatives from the Tachau area married a woman
in Minnesota who was originally from Rosshaupt, after
both had immigrated to the US and MN.
Also, I just thought I would mention:
There is a great map resource for Czech maps at
All of it is in Czech, of course, so you have to know the modern
Czech name of the town you are interested in, but once you have that
it is very nice to explore (scales down to 1:100000 which is
fine enough to show nearly all the small villages).
