A Family History of Karl Semmelbauer
Of Hrni Folmava, Vollmau, Bohemia
Karl Semmelbauer was the son of Stephen & Anna (Braunreiter) Semmelbauer.
Karl was born on October 2, 1820 in the village of Folmava-Vollmau, Bohemia,
now known as the Czech Republic. Karl died of arteriosclerosis on August 24,
1895 and was laid to rest in Folmava-Vollmau, Bohemia, then a province of the
Karl's father, Stephen Semmelbauer, was a (SCHMIEDMEISTER), "master
blacksmith" and a member of the imperial/royal auditors - or inspectors of
the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. Stephen was born June 22, 1777 and died June
6, 1847 in Vollmau. Karl was one of twelve children of Stephen & Anna
(Braunreiter) Semmelbauer. (Children Listed Below)

Karl Semmelbauer married Margaretha (Kohlbeck) February 4, 1849 in Vollmau.
Margaretha was born April 27, 1823 and her parents were Franz Xaver & Barbara
(Macht) Kohlbeck. Carolus or (Karl) Semmelbauer was a master watchmaker,
(Uhrmacher) in Unter- Vollmau. Father P. Anton Krejci baptized Karl at St.
Antonius Church in Vollmau, Bohemia on October 3, 1820. At the time of his
birth he was living in house number 12, in Vollmau.
Karl & Margaretha (Kohlbeck) Semmelbauer had eight (8) children of which
Richard Semmelbauer *1865 was one. (Children Listed Below)

Francisca Semmelbauer * February 6, 1855 + Wien (Vienna, Austria as Mrs.
Johann Birkler - death date unknown. Maria Hilf placed a note in the Vollmau
Church record on February 7, 1910. The note said:
"Franziska Macht (nee) Semmelbauer was married with Johann Birkler in Wien.
Francisca's first marriage (Peter Macht in 1876) and they had one son, Rudolf
Macht *1877 and died in Vienna, Austria +1939."
Anna Semmelbauer * July 25, 1857 + death date unknown. Although, Anna married
Heinrich Rätzer on June 9, 1884 in Eisenstein-Zelezna Ruda, Bohemia and they
had three (3) children listed below:

The Rätzer family was involved in the glass making business, which was a very
large enterprise in the Bohmerwald and in particular the village of
Eisenstein or as it is known today in Czech; Zelezna Ruda, Czech Republic.
