Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I know I probably got your hopes up by sending out a couple of issues of the ODT, but it looks like things are still not working correctly. I just checked the mailing list archive for GEN-OBIT and those two emails I sent out are not in the archive. And I hear that not everyone is receiving these emails who are subscribed to the list.
I will have to contact Rootsweb and see what I can find out. I am so sorry that this is taking so long. All I can say in their defense is that Rootsweb is a huge system and it will take a lot of work to upgrade it.
Hang in there with me. I continue to put issues of ODT together and I have them waiting in the queue. We must have faith that eventually things will work again.
Final moderator for Obituary Daily Times
This is the email list of the Obituary Daily Times. It is a moderated email list. If you are searching for descendants of a particular family group, this is the exchange group you want. It's easy (and quite addictive!) to do an index of your local paper, and you then have access to newspaper obituaries from across the world. If you become a contributor, you can request a copy of the listed obituary. It's like receiving numerous newspapers a day to shuffle through the obituaries. You can also become a subscriber without contributing, but you don't get the frills. If you want to become a contributor, please visit our website page about being a volunteer: http://sites.rootsweb.com/~obituary/volunteer.html.
