Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

The Obituary Daily Times (ODT) has suffered from a bit of neglect in
recent months and as a result we find ourselves short of indexers. Would
you kindly consider indexing a newspaper or two? To see what is
involved, you may refer to the ODT website at:
A non-exhaustive list of orphan pubs which you might consider for
indexing may be found at:
Many other newspapers have their obituaries on-line.
If you have an hour or two to spare for this worthwhile project, please

As there are almost 4,000 subscribers to [GEN-OBIT], please do not
respond with regrets since I really don't need a few hundred negative
responses in my mailbox! 8-)
We are still working on updating the ODT website and some (perhaps many)
of the links to publications are out of date. We are aware of this and
don't need to be reminded. They will be fixed in eventually. Until
then, you may find a newspaper's website by doing a Google search,
although is always preferable to index directly from the hard copy.
