I have thought long and hard (poor little brain is absolutely exhaused,
bless its little heart). According to Byrd's book of rules, Memebership is
broken into three parts, who is considered a member which includes voting
rights, how to become a member (qualifications to assume a site), and what
causes a person to lose membership.
I'll tackle the last one first, you would lose membership by voluntarily and
formally relinquishing your site, or abandonment. Abandonment would
consitiute being non responsive for a 4 week period. Non responsive is
defined as not responding to emails, phone calls or smoke signals from
management.
The second one I'll ignore for know.
For the first one, I would like to propose that membership would include,
the CC for each county, Any special project person, and the archive people.
I would also like to propose that the State page be considered a site and a
person could volunteer for that one.
Here is my reasoning for that, All the cc's are limited to three site's
max. If a three site max person were elected SC and the SC has
responsibility for the state pages, that would make a 4th site they would
have to manage. Being SC, 3 county sites and the state pages seems a little
over the top.
I know that many of us manage multiple pages in multiple states for GENWEB,
AHLN, or AHGP. not to mention family sites. Having the responsibility to
keep up the state site on top of the other ones would drive me over the
edge. I am not the most timely person in the world and do have a life
outside of the computer box and assume that others do also. It is one
reason why I would not enjoy the SC job.
I would also make voting membership based on a 3 month residency in
GAGENWEB. Each member of GAGENWEB would have a vote, reguardless of the
number of sites they manage. and the maximum number of "legitimate" CC's
would be two per county if they received the county based on a tagteam
arrangement. Because a friend helps occassionally would not meet the
membership requirement. The management team would have to recognize the
tagteam for the county and both names would be on the site on the state's
county page.
Ah well enough thought for now.
