As for number of votes per county... I see the merit in having one
vote per
county. However, there are some counties that have 2 Co-Coordinators who
share equally in managing the site. Which one would vote? Or should they
both be able to vote (with a max of 2 votes per county)? Is it possible to
take a poll to see how the CCs feel on this topic? Or send another note to
GAGen asking for feedback?
I do think a poll of the CCs is a good idea.
More on General Membership...
Deborah's suggestion for General Membership includes "county record
transcribers, those who help the County Coordinator maintain their site,
etc." Would General Membership be granted to anyone who contributes a
record? Or are we talking about people appointed by the CC to help out on a
regular basis? If the latter... can we refer to these people as Assistant
CCs? And then someplace include a definition of Assistant CC, maybe
something like...
Good question.
Assistant Coordinator: A volunteer appointed by the Coordinator to
assist
with a particular aspect of a County or Special Project, such as record
transcription, website maintenance, research advisory, query management,
etc.
Any thoughts, y'all?
If this sounds like a possibility, here's a go at rewording the
Membership
draft:
Article 3 Membership:
(a) General membership: General Membership in the GAGenweb Project
(Project) shall constitute any person who is actively working with the
Project to preserve and post Georgia historical and genealogical material
to a Project related site. General membership shall include the State
Coordinator, Assistant State Coordinator(s), County Coordinators (CC),
Special Project Coordinators*, Assistant Coordinators, and State Archives
Coordinator. Assistant Coordinator is defined as a volunteer appointed by
the Coordinator to assist with a particular aspect of a County or Special
project site, such as record transcription, website maintenance, query
management, research advisory, etc. General Members may susbscribe to the
GAGEN-l(a)rootsweb.com mailing list.
[* The State Tombstone and State Census Coordinator would fall under
"Special Project Coordinators", wouldn't they?]
I would say they would, if we in fact had those state special projects,
which we currently don't.
(b) Voting Membership: Voting Membership shall be limited to the
State
Coordinator, Assistant State Coordinator(s), County Coordinators, Special
Project Coordinators, and State Archives Coordinator. County or Special
Project Coordinators are defined as the contact people responsible for
maintaining a Project website. Each coordinator shall have one vote
regardless of the number of county sites maintained.
(1) There shall be a maximum of two coordinators per County or Special
Project.
(2) A Project CC shall maintain a maximum of 3 County sites.
(3) All Voting members shall be subscribed to the GAGEN-l(a)rootsweb.com
mailing list.
I don't see a need to specifically mention SC and ASC(s) because they are
also CCs.
