Good afternoon, all. My apologies for taking so long in moving forward here.
Well, the CCs have expressed some opinions on the proposals we sent, Keith
on the message board and a few to GAGEN. I also got a couple of private
emails, summaries below:
From Email one:
Concerns about the page requirements, namely the surname registry, the
county table, and the "about GenWeb". There is a bit of discussion on each,
but basically this CC feels that these should be suggestions and not
requirements. This CC also feels that the "dead" county sites are more
important to deal with than those particular items.
From Email two:
Expressed some concerns over the voting issue. I think this has been
clarified on GAGEN that each coordinator would get a vote but that no one
got more than one vote and that no county had more than two coordinators.
The other concern this CC mentioned was that new CCs would be expected to
become proficient at handling webpages in 3 months. Perhaps that isn't long
enough if they have no experience whatsoever. I think here the concern
would be what is "proficient". Personally, I don't think a new CC has to be
capable of top-of-the-line tricks and flashy pages to be proficient. And I
doubt that many others do either.
So -- what shall we do with the proposals, given the comments we've received?
Thanks,
Jacki
