Good afternoon! I'd like to call us back to order. To recap, here's the summary
of what we have:
Voted on and passed by CCs:
Article 1: Name
Article 2: Purpose
In Progress:
Article 3: Membership
Article 4: Officers and Support Team
Policies and Procedures:
1) Appointment of Coordinators
3) Regional Assistant Responsibilities
Still to be discussed:
Policies and Procedures:
2) Removal of Coordinators
4) Page requirements
Other possible sections needed:
Grievance
Amendments to Bylaws and/or P&P
You can see the status of the in-progess work at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~gacolqu2/bylaws/proposals.html.
I'd also suggest that we should include SC and CC responsibilities in the P&P.
I'd like to complete those sections first. From selected sources, here's a
suggested list for each:
Suggested SC responsibilities:
~Appointing local/county and special project coordinators. Dismissing
coordinators, if necessary
~Monitoring all county websites
~Maintaining the state mailing list, GAGen-L
~Supervising the state web page
~Issuing quarterly roll call
~Maintaining national voters list, updating quarterly
~Responding to communication from CCs and researchers
~Recruiting start-up help for new volunteers
USGenWeb guidelines for SCs:
http://www.usgenweb.org/volunteers/SCguidelines.shtml
Suggested CC responsibilities:
~Maintain county website, uploading data when appropriate and keeping links up
to date
~Respond to communications from researchers
~Answer roll call
~Report change of email address to SC and/or RA
~Subscribe to the GAGen-L or GAGen-D (digest mode) mailing list
USGenWeb guidelines for CCs:
http://www.usgenweb.org/volunteers/CCguidelines.shtml
Note that these are just suggestions to start. Let's discuss the CC
responsibilities first, please. Additions, changes, deletions in ideas or wording?
My immediate goal is to get the P&P sections to go along with Article 3 and
Article 4 ready ASAP to present to the CCs for comments. I'd really like to get
that done by the end of this month, if at all possible. (And I think it is.)
Remember that our overall goal is to keep things simple :-)
Happy New Year,
Jacki
