From Melanie Atkins:
I am a descendant of Theophilus Mason, who seems to have been right on the
border of Laurens and Wilkinson Co., GA. He married Didemma Cannon and her
family was in Wilkinson County near the Laurens County line. He purchased
land in 1822 which was described as having been in Wilkinson County when it
was surveyed, but was part of Laurens County in 1822. He appeared on the
1830 census of Laurens County; however, his estate was administered in
Wilkinson County in 1838, and his widow appeared on the Wilkinson Co. census
from 1840 on as the wife of George Brack.
Since most descendants associate him with Wilkinson County, I would like to
post the following deed and what I have found on his estate at your website.
Please let me know if there is any special format you prefer.
