Yes, I have started a new Crawford County site. I just started it and are in the process
of transcribing and others are submitting information too. As most of you know it takes
time to transcribe information. I made a post to the message board about the page, NOT
the mail list.

I agree totally.
Kim Gordon has started a new Crawford Co. page there and basically is
nothing to speak of. The thing is she is using the mail list to try and
advertise the page.
I own the mail list and am the CC for Crawford here on our project.
Would be better served to do some transcribing I think.

I feel the same as you Liz I dont think they should have any access
to ANY
of GaGenWeb files. I know I dont want them to have any that I have
transcribed or submitted to GaGenWeb.
I know there is nothing I can do about it but I just dont like it!!

Re: AHGP, I have been wondering if anyone else was having problems with
these "competitors" . Unfortunately, the state coordinator for AHGP lives
in Haralson County, has been doing typing and coordination of a book the
Haralson County Historical Society of cemetery surveys, etc. AHGP has
tried
to link to the Haralson County Archives files which I strongly
objected to
and their link was taken off the archive page. Now, this person is
saying
that she personally updated some of the cemetery surveys that are on
line
with my name as surveyor and also has done updates of others. She was
asking me if she could republish the surveys and include her name and
"updated----by---- and date" along with my name. I refused since I did
not
do the update and did not want my name involved although she did not
do
the
original work.
She has informed several of us that the Society has decided to not publish
the book and has given her permission to put the surveys on the web. I am
trying to confirm all of this with the Society, but the point is I feel
she
is only wanting to get their name on the Archives files so that AHGP
can
take advantage of all the work done by other Haralson County volunteers.
Maybe I have a bad attitude...she said my nose was out of joint...but I
really resent their developing a site and then infringing upon GAGenWeb to
obtain files. There are plenty of files out there to be transcribed if
they
want to contribute NEW INFORMATION FOR OUR RESEARCHERS. Would like
some
other opinions on this.
