Many of you are aware of my efforts in Cobb County in taking pictures of all
of the tombstones in all of the cemeteries. The project will take a while,
but will, eventually, be completed. I am posting them on the Cobb County
site as they are done, and also intend to burn them onto CD's. I will donate
a copy to the Georgia Room, copies to the Cobb Historical Society and all of
the genealogical groups in the County. I will allow John Collins Chapter,
SAR, to market the CD's and sell them for the benefit of the Chapter.

Subject: Re: [GAGEN] Tombstone photos
I volunteer with RAOGK, and I never charge anything for photos
(digital or otherwise). I just can't justify asking someone to send
me the $0.75 or whatever it costs me to develop a couple pictures
(as I usually finish up the roll with pics of my kids). And a
digital photo doesn't cost me a thing. However, I have requested
tombstone photos from volunteers many times for my own research, and
I am always more than happy (and fully expect) to pay for their
expenses, which has ranged from $1.00-10.00. Even if they say
"don't worry about it", I'll send them a couple bucks and tell them
to enjoy a coffee or a burger on me. I did once pay someone $20.00 for
a tombstone picture that I really needed for a DAR application...
she was a professional photographer I'd found in the phone book,
'cause I couldn't find anyone else to do it. But I think $20.00 is
way too high for someone offering to "help" fellow genealogists.
