The Military site would not be presented in the American Indian perspective
unless the Indians were listed among those tribes who fought with the
Caucasians in many wars and battles starting during the Colonial times. The
Catawba of SC was very active in the Military as was the Cherokee and
others. In those instances then that material should be with the Military
material. That is how I see it and I see it as outlined in the quotation
from Val Greenwood's book mentioned above. Gloria

Genealogy
Regardless of what you find, your first responsibility is to the
truth. A
true report, unaffected by the nature of the facts, is the responsibility
of
the genealogist as it is the responsibility of an historian or
scientist.
Those who attempt to alter, or color the truth are a liability to the
science of genealogy - they are the millstone which tends to drag us down.
They are not genealogists and do not deserve the title. In you dedication
to the truth, however, remember that you also have a responsibility to
present it objectively and in its proper perspective. This is from
"Understanding Genealogical Research, by Val D. Greenwood, genealogical
publishing Co., Inc. , Baltimore: 1990 This is the text book which the
National Genealogical Society uses in their classes and what they
recommend
for anyone working towards completing their portfolio for
certification as
a
C.G.R.S, or C G. If we are going to do something then lets do
something
that
we can be proud of. Genealogy has rules just like any other science.
We
need to learn what that is and to follow those rules as closely as
possible.

Genealogy research usually begins with our great-grandparents to preserve
the privacy of 'living persons'. If you encounter a person searching
their birth parents, the need to go to the area on the web that deals
with just this type of research. Please refer them to:
