For the record: if and when this story is pursued, it will be the truth. The
good, the bad and the ugly. The majority of GAGenWeb's volunteers have given
time and honor to this project - they cannot and will not be overlooked.
It is amusing to me that the people who are protesting - with the exception
of one or two - are the very ones who sent me the personal emails to which I
referred. And while I find a couple of them totally indecorous - there is
another one not heard from. One who is more parlous and is a perjurer.
The reason I agreed to help with this story: I have met amazing and generous
people through genealogy. The most memorable is Dr. Charles Johnson from TX.
Dr. J. saw a query I had made in the early 80s to the NCGS Quarterly Journal
and told me who my great-great-great-grandparents are - but supplied me with
so much info, so many contacts and such a great friendship.
Someone let it slip that I am known as one of the troublemakers. If that
means that we watch out for one another and make sure everyone is treated equally
- then I am a troublemaker. When I first joined GAGenWeb this infighting was
in full swing. I visited other state's archived lists and noticed no one
else has the problems and discourse we have. This isn't a fluke
I have researched on USGenWeb for years and had correspondence with some of
you before I became a CC. Some of you were great and some not so. Being on
the "inside" now, I find that those who were great as CCs (as observed by this
"patron") are positive and proactive here. And those who weren't - are
negative and detrimental.
Behind the chanting of "having GAGenWeb's best interest...." I see great
spirits of people who give beyond what is asked and always have GAGenWeb's best
interest in heart. And then there is the other side of the coin.
To the person(s) who called CNN today: x said to tell you that we will be
the first to know if this story is going to run. And to say thank you for your
interest.
If anyone else has comments, please send them to me privately. With the
pending elections there are certainly more interesting things to talk about!
