Please qualify whether this new quideline requires that the page load within
30 seconds on cable modem, DSL or dial-up.
Technically, the server where the page resides could determine how quickly
it "loads". If a site is located on Rootsweb's servers and there is a lot
of weekend traffic, I doubt whether even the state's page would load in 30
seconds on a dialup.
This guideline may be impossible for CCs (or anyone else) to comply with.
This is not a new guideline.
It is a suggestion from several sources that recommend such, because folks
don't like to wait forever for a page to 'show' its complete self.
The time frame was for a 14.4 modem - which the vast majority of users are
long since beyond.
There are places that will verify how long a page takes to load. It would
seem that coordinators would be willing create pages that the majority of
visitors could easily access - else its defeats ones purpose of providing
data in a user friendly mode.
If individual coordinators want to put their entire site on one page -
they can, but are they really serving the public or themselves?
