Thanks for finding that, Vivian!
How can the Archives even continue to be open two days per week between now
and November 1 if there are only three staff members? This is getting
ridiculous.

Code Section 45-13-50 – states that “the Division
of Archives and History shall make accessible to
the general public for not less than the hours of
9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on every Saturday, except
legal holidays and such days as..... division and
the records therein, such records and facilities
as are ordinarily available to the public during
regular office hours on weekdays.”
With the Secretary of State laying off all but
three staffers today, the Archives cannot
possibly comply with idea of appointments to
satisfy the open records law. One of the people
retained is the building manager who knows
nothing about history or the collection. The new
director, Chris Davidson, is still employed as is one archivist.
