BTW this action was also taken very shortly after Tim turned over the
Domains that they have been claiming were the original basis for declaring
him MNIGS. I guess he simply no longer had any leverage on them so it is
time to attack viciously.

Subject: [GAGEN] Georgia in the News
Fellow Georgians,
Not sure how many of you are subscribed to the BOARD
mailing list. For those of you who are not, here is the latest
attempt, by the Board, to help Georgia. (Or hurt Georgia)
Not sure which. It is an attempt to usurp the Bylaws. I am
sure some of you will cheer and some of you will not. I have
a fundamental problem with this action in that it sets a very
bad precedence for the Project as a whole. Once this can
happen in Georgia, it will set the stage for this type of hostile
take-over to happen in other states. Since North Dakota is
also involved in this action, it will become the norm..
I am not claiming any side in this action, but I wonder why
it is being done and how it can possibly be condoned as legal.
The Bylaws specifically say how an SC can be removed and
this completely defies that section.
I do not specifically agree with that section, since I don't think
the SC position should be for life. I think it should be mandatory
that all SC's stand for re-election and not be allowed to hold
the position, that is grandfathered by the Bylaws. But I do not
believe that using improper methods of removal is the answer.
I know this action may be good for some, but it also sets a
precedence for all states being required to reassign those that
were let go for various reasons. Some needed to be removed,
and some did not. But who's standard is to be used?
Below is the motion being offered to the Board, by Shari Handley.
Everyone should read it, and let your feelings and opinions be
known to your Representatives and Board Members.

SEMA CC Rep - Denise Woodside seek4fam(a)yahoo.com
SEMA SC Rep - Christine Goff <resigned as of 5/29/2004>

God save the Project.

--------------------------------
It has been moved by Shari and seconded by Cyndie:
- that all Georgia County Coordinators and Assistant County Coordinators
who have been dismissed in the past 6 months be immediately reinstated
to their previous positions as CC, ACC or RC in GAGenWeb without
prejudice, and with no loss of seniority.
- that Tim Stowell be immediately suspended (removed temporarily) from
membership in The USGenWeb Project for a period of 60 days or until the
results of a removal hearing are known.
- that immediate steps be taken to hold elections for State Coordinator
in Georgia as soon as such elections can be arranged with the EC.
- that immediate steps be taken to hold elections for State Coordinator
in North Dakota as soon as such elections can be arranged with the EC.
- that Richard Pettys be immediately suspended (removed temporarily)
from membership in The USGenWeb Project for a period of 60 days or until
the results of a removal hearing are known.
- that Brenda Pierce be immediately suspended (removed temporarily) from
membership in The USGenWeb Project for a period of 60 days or until the
results of a removal hearing are known.
The removal hearing(s) shall be conducted by the Advisory Board.
Since the election nominations period is scheduled to begin June 1st,
and the outcome of this motion will have an impact on the ability of
those named to run for USGenWeb office, the following provision is
included in this motion: In the event that the results of this motion
are not known by 11:59 p.m. May 31, 2004, The USGenWeb Elections
Committee is directed to place a "hold" on any nomination received for
any of the persons named in this motion, pending the results of the
motion. If the motion passes, those named will be considered to have
been suspended from membership as of the date this motion was made. If
the motion fails, any such nomination may proceed normally.
The floor is open for discussion.
