Please also send me the information for the Georgia Military Page.
The mail lists are not part of the USGWP project. We are required to
furnish information for the list if one exists.
I will certainly be glad to place the notice just as any other obit or
historical data on the Georgia Military Page
www.rootsweb.com/~gagwmil
I also request your data of Georgians that served in the Military. I do not
violate the privacy of living persons and will decline to post that kind of
data.
Last year the DAR had a beautiful dedication ceremony for Michael Whatley
who served in the American Rev.

I agree! I have corresponded with Linda for a couple of years now, and she
has put a LOT of time and effort into researching the 17th GA Infantry. My
feeling is that she is strictly promoting an event, not selling anything,
and I don't have any problem posting her notice. As far as posting
information on books for publication on our mailing lists, I hadn't heard
that this was a problem either. Technically (and it may be a fine point),
the mailing list itself isn't really part of the "project" per se. It is a
separate entity all together, and someone other than the CC may own it
anyway. Subscribers can post pretty much anything they want really
(obviously within the limits of taste and the Terms of Use policies at
Rootsweb), and I have very little say in it. Personally, I think it's nice
that she bothered to ask first! :-)
I sent something to my list just yesterday on books for sale from a lady
who had published some birth, marriage, and death notice books. I don't
have a link to her site on my site, but I feel that it's important that
subscribers and researchers at least be notified that something new has
been published that might help with their research. My understanding was
that we could post links to things for sale anyway.
I don't want to start a huge thread on this, but I thought it was important
to make my point.
