I think it could be added at the end of what you have. As far as I know
at this moment
Ancestry.com has take all the pages down or they said
they have. They may put them back up in the future I don't know.
But as long as folks can see that we provide free records is the main
thing.

Ancestry.com Issue
Ed,
I currently have the following on the bottom of most of my pages. Would
you replace it with the Vivian's? Or could the two be blended? I'm
sure others have similar messages on their sites.
All materials contained on these pages are furnished for the free use of
those engaged researching their family origins. Any commercial use, or,
other electronic posting of any files/pages without the consent of the
host/author of these pages is prohibited. All images used on these pages
were obtained from sources permitting free distribution, or generated by
the author, and are subject to the same restrictions/permissions. All
persons contributing material for posting on these pages does so in
recognition of their free, non-commercial distribution, and further, is
responsible to assure that no copyright is violated by their submission
Whatever we do, IMHO we should be consistent - at least through GAGen.
We can't speak for the rest of the project. If we start, others would
see and do something similar.

Hey Yall,
You may want to read the email below that came across the State Coord
list.
Vivian came up with a disclaimer that we all may want to add to our
pages.
"If you have arrived at this site via a paid subscription database,
please know that the data contained here has been donated by hardworking
volunteers. This material and much more is available free of charge
through the USGenWeb Project and its state and county Web sites."
Thanks Vivian!!
She and I have been discussing this problem and we are not sure that the
above disclaimer would show up on any pages they already have??
There is no need to panic. The NC is working on resolving this matter
asap. So we need to think carefully about our options.

Dear Project members:
It has been reported as follows:
"Ancestry has a new "Internet Biographical Collection" in its Deluxe
Collection that includes USGenWeb sites, as well as just about
everything else as far as I can see at first glance. When you click on
the original pages, you sometimes get the USGenWeb copyright notice . .

"Ancestry.com. Internet Biographical Collection

Original data:
Biographical info taken from various English web sites. See specific
website address provided with each entry.
About Internet Biographical Collection This database contains a sampling
of biographical sketches found on English language web pages throughout
the
entire World Wide Web. Web pages can vary greatly in the amount of
information they contain about a given person, and in the number of
related and unrelated people mentioned on the same page. The information
source and the central topic of each page will also vary greatly.

Please be assured that the USGenWeb AB is investigating the situation
and is attempting to contact Rootsweb to gain further facts about the
situation. Meaningful progress will be reported to the USGenWeb

Meanwhile, please try to refrain from starting or contributing to the
spread of rumors, etc. and watch for additional status information as it
