Here's the thing - the SS#s are for dead people, not the living. There are
several ways to get those numbers and not just from
Ancestry.com. This
would be for people who died recently. Seems to me that the IRS needs to
add another feature to their wonderful software that checks SS#s against the
deceased list. Just my zero cents as it isn't worth two cents.

I just wondered who caught the news in Atlanta this week about the three
women in Georgia who committed tax fraud in the range of two million dollars
using names, dates of death, and SS# from Ancestry.Com? The refunds sent to
their real home addresses.
