It is the rootsweb mailing lists that are getting spammed.
But please note, those of you who administer the lists,
when you go to delete them in the ADMIN page, you need to send a copy
to the list itself so it can learn what the spam is. You
can do that by clicking another button just a few lines down from
the delete button. It means you have to click another box and if
your lists are like mine where they were getting up to 12 a day,
it's an extra step you don't want, but it is the only way to
help the system.
USGenNet uses the same mailing lists system, but their SYSADMIN
has added blocks to the system to where we get almost no spam
at all on those lists. I'm not a SYSADMIN so I don't know
exactly what he did, but I am sure Rootsweb could do the same
thing and it would all but eliminate the problem.

Subject: [GAGEN] mailing lists?
Hi all,
Is it just me, or are the county mailing lists being hit with a lot
of spam now? Only people who are admin-ing one of these lists will
know what I'm seeing, but the moderator requests are way up. Used to
be just one or two a month, but now it's more like 20 a week.
