Thanks for the nomination, Betty. It means a lot to me to
have been nominated by Betty Sellers. My first experience
with the USGenWeb Project and the KYGenWeb Project was as a
user not a volunteer. Nancy Trice, Carole Palmer and Betty
Sellers were all extremely helpful with my quest to find my
Kentucky roots. I try to keep up to their standards with
the pages that I coordinate.
When Betty asked me if I would consider running for this
position, a lot of things ran through my head. Most of them
rambled through as I wrote a return message to Betty. I
hope Betty doesn't mind if I post it here. There are some
things in this message that could be taken the wrong way. I
thought about editing it, but that's not the way I do
things. Here it is pimples and all. No secrets, no
camouflage, no spin.
BTW... I haven't heard through official Channels that I have
qualified... This may all be meaningless, unless of course
some one takes a piece of it and helps to make USGenWeb a
better place to volunteer.

I hope to have a page up soon, but in the meantime you can
check my family page listed below or the sites that I CC and
then there is the archives of FLGEN-Board-L, check them out
to see me in action. All of the good things are there as
well as the warts.
What you see is what you get. I was once a politician, an
honest one... I didn't last very long. If you read this
far, thanks for listening.
Respectfully,
Jim Powell Jr
