Ware County Genealogical Society begins 1 January 1999.
The fee is $25.00. It includes a six county wide area. The counties
involved will be WARE- PIERCE - BACON - CLINCH - COFFEE - AND ATKINSON.
Not only do you get a newsletter quarterly - but the obits will be
posted each week - some daily. As a member you have access to the
Angell's Unlimited Research Library in Waycross, Ga. This library has
about 500 books on these six counties. and a database of 250,000
cemetery records- 30,000 are from Ware Co Ga.
Another data base includes over 200,000 marriages in these counties -
44,000 are Ware Co Ga marriages.
The library has a copy in book form - of every cemetery in Ware Co for
sale- 85% of Ware Co cemeteries records has the parents and spouses
listed - these records came from actual cemetery inventories - old
church records - old newspaper articles- old funeral home records- and
lots and lots of family bibles, a collection of over 40 years, hard
work. In the past few months - a lot of the new members have added their
own databases to the database in the library of aprox 60,00 family group
sheets - all from this area, increasing the family group sheets to
nearly 200,000. The library house many old and rare books and many of
the books are autographed. The Angell Library is open to the public for
a few more months- nights - weekends - holidays. Appointments are a
must - the library is small and if you want computer time - you must
make an appointment.
