All,
the NC replies "...why is it nearly impossible for folks to sign
up
to transcribe, get their transcriptions linked, find the census records?
Why does it take a year or longer to get this done?"]
I find it amazing that our NC can slam about the Census Project and it's
members when he can no more have a clue as to what goes on there than
someone who doesn't own a computer. The above statement is so bizarre and
unfounded that I almost wasn't going to reply. But I find that there are
many people out here that take his words as gospel, and believe me he is no
"Paul".
Anyway, there is very little that gets past us and doesn't get taken care
of. We do make errors but no more than any CC, or file manager at the
archives. I have been asking for months to have my name removed from an
archives census page that I have never been signed up for even on our own
pages. Ever.
-----------
"a complaint that when one "goes from the main page to
Census -
folks get an advertising page about joining the transcription team and
other stuff - instead of leading them where they want to go, namely to the
census records."
Here is another one that I don't get. If anyone will go to the Main page
then go to the state page just as you would have to from the archives census
pages, you will get a list of counties with links, those links take you to
the actual census that is online, not to any advertising. Our NC, needs to
stop getting his info. from Linda and start checking for himself.
And why is our NC blowing off and demeaning a person asking these types of
questions of him rather than facing them and dealing with them? I know that
many don't care how he acts towards those who don't agree with him, and I
know also that he will get favorable press even in the "Daily Board Show" no
matter how he acts. But we are USGW volunteers just like everyone else, no
matter whether we are CC's or SC's or file manager for an SP or even just a
transcriber or assistant. We all should be treated the same whether he
likes our ideas or not. I know everyone is entitled to their opinions but
when you accept a position such as he has, there is an assumed
responsibility by most voters that you are going to set an example for
others. I guess I am okay then because I don't think my attitude is any
worse than his.
And this is not a personal attack, for those of you who are second guessing,
it is an observation and rebuttal to what he has said and done.
Thanks,
Ron
