Bernie and Betty Johnson are hosts of Twiggs County (West Central Region)
as well as several other GA Counties. They've been doing these counties for
quite a while and have some interesting ideas that other CCs might be able
to use.
DOCUMENT EXERPTS
Most researchers have bits and pieces of some Database. The Johnsons have
created a special site called "Exerpts from Documents" to gather these!
For example, the Tax Digest (which is such a great tool for researchers,
and we'd all like to have the WHOLE Tax Digest on-line)....individuals have
shared what they have extracted in their research.
I thought this was a great idea!
DEATH RECORDS
They have about 5 years worth of Death Records. Since I've tried to type
these up for Taylor County, I know quite well what a task that can be!
They combined the list to include all the counties which they work with.
The first thing I noticed was how nicely the columns lined up (I always have
problems with this!) and what a NICE SIZE the print was!
They used the simple code <pre> and the columns were perfect. ( I don't know
what word processing program they used)
The print was by using <big> ! (I've never tried this....how simple and
what great results!)
ABOUT GAGenWeb
You've heard us all put in plugs for using "About GAGenWeb" on your sites
to
keep from having to update!
The Johnsons also include ABOUT USGenWeb....connecting to the USGenWeb
information page.
Both of these were accomplished using a neat BANNER!
JOE BROWN CENSUS 1863
This is another helpful census based on the enrollment by Gov. Brown. These
can be found on microfilm and list the men of military age in 1863.
Lots of great ideas....so pay them a visit!

I hope other CCs will also share some of the unique things that you are
putting on your pages.....
