Hi Susan,
I think that it is very relevant, and that it is also appropriate. This
list is ideal for passing on information and ideas, as well as asking for
assistance when it is needed.
Anyway about me. I took on my first county (Decatur Co.) about a year
ago.
Since then, I have been very lucky to find some wonderful volunteers
that
have helped place on-line the marriage index, 1850 census, 60+ cemetery
transcriptions, 55+ bible records with about 130 more coming. Additional,
by placing a call to the local paper (The Bainbridge Post Searchlight) I
have received permission from them to place on-line all of the obituaries
that have appeared in their paper, over 600 are on-line today.
Late last year, I was approached and asked if I would be willing to take
on
one of the RC positions that was being setup. Because of some
difficulties
that I had when I first started working with GAGenWeb I say, Yes.
And
became the RC for the Southwest region. The CCs that work in the Southwes
t
region are great. I have some really good counties in this area and
all
of
the CCs are very friendly and nice to work with. I try not to seem
imposing
or as if I am always looking over their shoulders. (Wouldn't
need to
anyway.)<G> I am here to help them if they need it. If they go on
vacation
an need someone to over see their county until they get back, or if
they
need help with something. I may not always know the answer, but I can
always find someone who does. I am here as an RC for one reason, to give
a
voice to the CCs in the SW area.
I also, have taken over the GAGenWeb Unknown Queries. Wyndell Taylor took
care of them for a very long time, and did a wonderful job. It was
definitely the easy project to take over, everything was up to date and
very
well established. Wyndell is definitely a great asset for the
GAGenWeb
Project.
Additionally, I have been trying to update the GAGenWeb Records On-Line
pages. This one is a very time consuming task. Links are always changing
or going bad. IF there is anyone that would be interested in taking it
over, please contact me. The work is not hard, just takes sometime.
First and foremost, I am a CC. I wanted to give back to people what I
have
been very lucky in receiving. If I can ever be of help to anyone,
please
don't hesitate to ask.
I have rambled on long enough. Have a good day and happy hunting.
