Virginia,
Would you mind sharing the URLs for the pages where you use each of these
free search engines? I too am looking for a search engine utility and would
like to try them both out to compare before adding one to my site.
I would also like to know if others have used either of these and would
offer an opinion about them.
Thanks for posting this information!
Karyn
I use both the Rootsweb and Pico Search engines on several of my sites:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~nychenan/
http://www.rootsweb.com/~nymadiso/
http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnhamilt/
to name a few.
I like the Rootsweb one because it is where I have the files stored.
I like the PicoSearch one because I can re-index the site according to my
schedule instead of waiting for Rootsweb to do theirs. After I load a
big chunk of data, I re-index the site with PicoSearch and show on my page
when it was updated last. PicoSearch can index up to 1500 pages.
