Subject: [GAGEN] new GC Boards
(Permission has been granted to distribute this)
Please feel free to distribute. I claim no copyright to the
instructions posted below! They were generated as a public
service!
It only takes 9 easy clicks to get to a list of all of the
posts on a particular county's board.
1 Click on the Board link from your County Site. The
Ancestry.com Message Board Search page comes up.
2. Click on BOARDS in the list of options, you will be
redirected to the new location of the Search Our Message
Boards! page. It has moved already!
3. Click on Localities. (since when is Africa a locality? I
thought is was a continent)
4. From the list of available Localities, Click the 7th one,
North America. (and we thought genealogy was popular here,
heck we are 7th in the world) This will take you to the
North America list. (you are almost half way there!)
5. Click on the last one, United States ( I guess those
Central American and Mexican folks use this system more than
we do?) This takes you to the United States Board.
6. Click on States if your final destination is a county.
(If a locality was your final destination, please go back to
the Africa selection)
7. Click Pennsylvania from the selection of 50 states. They
are in alphabetical order for your convenience. LMNO....P!
8. Click on Counties. This will bring up the list of 68
counties. (They are also in alphabetical order for your
convenience, although I was surprised they were not listed
in order of number of posts, then we could have had a
competition to see who could get the most posts!)
9. Locate your county from the list and click on it.
(YEAH!!! YOU MADE IT!) If Cote d'Ivoire is in the
list...you are stuck in the Africa Locality!
Now you will have all the posts ever posted in all of those
outdated, neatly organized boards, in one big pile, sorted
by the date they were posted, with queries mixed in with
obits, mixed in with deeds, mixed in with bios......
You can now search this county if you remember to click on
THIS CATEGORY every time....if you forget you will also get
all of those Central America and Mexican posts mixed in.
