There have been several of these that have come across the boards and it has always turned
into a hassle - either one side or the other always seems to think I am suppose to mediate
the process - once the information didn't get to the person and they had already paid
for the trip and copies and they both kept emailing me like I was responsible for it. In
order to relieve the situation I finally paid someone on the list to go collect the
information and send it to me overnight mail and I in return mailed it to them myself thus
I was out close to $50 for information that did me 0 good. All I did was manage the board
-- and got suckered into an awful situation.
HOWEVER, RW's own policy does not allow those to be posted, so for that reason alone I
would delete it.

Brenda,
What exactly is your objection? His shout of "I WILL PAY" I interpret as an
offer to reimburse contributors for the cost of photocopies.
We are nonprofit. OK. Many or most of us have links to sites that sell
genealogical publications. Has it been established that this person has
profiteered in the past or in any way done something we wouldn't want to
associate with GenWeb?
I am trying to play devil's advocate here. I want to understand why you and
apparently Jimmy want to remove this guy's post.
Thanks,
Harry Folsom

I would not let it stay - I would tell him this is a NONPROFIT Organization
and let it go at that.
Just remove it and move on, it's not worth the hassle when these people
don't want to hear us.

Subject: [GAGEN] What are the rules?
Hi
I recently took over Clarke Co and was wondering what the rules are when
someone posts a query soliciting information for a book they are writing?
I responded to the person letting them know that solicitations are not
permitted, and he responded, very nicely, that I was the only one that
squelched his requests and there are similar queries posted.
My main objection was the "shout" I WILL PAY...
Would you have allowed this or stopped it?
Any help or feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jimmy Epperson
