Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Pat,
Thanks for that bit of info. I don't know about other areas but here in Houston, they also throttle
the band-width. There is a period in the afternoon where I can set my clock and know that I can not
even connect to Google because it times out first.

Evening Ed,
I just wanted to drop you an email and bring you update on some issues I
have going on at home right now.
My mother was admitted into the hospital in Thomasville last week. They did
surgery today to drain the fluid that is continuing to leak from a hole in
her right lung into the plural space and inserted talcum powder to make the
outside of the right lung stick to the chest wall with the hope that this
will help the hole heal. She is in ICU, and will remain there until she is
able to breathe on her own again. Her right lung collapsed either during
surgery or right after. And she has been incubated because of it. When her
lung collapsed she was only breathing at 20%. My mother has been battling
lung cancer now for over 28 months. Back in January 2005 she was given only
3 to 6 months to live.
The doctors told us originally that because she had never smoked her
prognosis was good. But it has now spread from her left lung over the last
2 years to the 1 section of her right lung and in the past month they found
it had spread to the lymph nodes in her neck.
Everything is completely in God's hands.
I'm letting you know all of this so if I don't respond to emails within a
day or so, you'll know why.
I worked tonight on finishing up the 1840 census for Decatur County and I'm
waiting on my cousin Ida Boyce to finish proofreading it however I went
ahead and uploaded it and made notes about which District's have been
proofread. I also fixed the Surname registry form. I don't have anything
else pressing right away to upload or fix. I'll keep an eye as I can and
keep you update on my status.
Way to go!

Hi Christina,
You might try converting it to a searchable pdf file.
There are free converter programs.
Here is one.
http://www.pdfdesk.com/winpdf.html
I use these all the time, they are nice because the file they create is
small in size and fully searchable.

Greetings to all the members of the GAGenWeb,
I am Nola Duffy and together with Everette Carr and Martha Graham, we have the honor to serve as the
vote counters for your GAGenWeb election this year. If anyone might be curious how we were selected,
there is a simple answer. We are each presently serving on the USGenWeb Elections Committee and
when the Election Committee Chair was asked to help facilitate the GAGenWeb State Coordinator
election this year, she designated us as volunteers.
At this time, the schedule is as follows:
The period for nominations for the next State Coordinator for the GAGenWeb will open on Saturday
June 16, 12:01 a.m. EST and continue until Friday June 29, midnight EST. Your nominations can be
made to me personally but to make certain there are no problems due to e-mail or computer problems,
it is suggested that you CC your nominations to Everette and Martha as well. I will notify the list
of any nominations as soon as they are received but the nominator's name will not be disclosed.
If multiple candidates are nominated, the nomination period will be followed by a two week period
for campaigning.
Voting will begin on Saturday, July 14, at 12:01 a.m. EST and end on Friday, July 27, at 12:00
midnight EST.
Your votes must be sent to each of the three vote counters but can be sent in the same e-mail
message addressed to all three.
Once the election is complete, each vote counter will individually tabulate the votes received and
then compare to make certain that all three totals are the same.
Please feel free to ask any questions you might have, either on the list or to either of us
individually.
We do appreciate the opportunity to serve the volunteers of the GA-GenWeb.

I was also nominated (by whom?) and have declined. I'd like to make the
GAGenWeb Project more the focus of my time. There's lots we can do, in
terms of new technology, to enhance the state site for Ed and Vivian (and
cyberspace) -- and I want to aim in that direction.
In that light, I hope everyone will visit the new blog and the bulletin
board that will go live this week. We hope these new features added to the
state site will give us more opportunity for interaction. If anyone has
ideas for topics to be added to the blog, let Ed or Vivian know. And watch
for the bulletin board's 'grand opening' later this week.
Sylvia Rankin
Don't know who nominated me for SEMA CC Rep, but Thanks. I feel that it is a great honor, just to be nominated. BUT due to health problems I had to decline. I may have to have surgery later this year and knew that I would not be able to represent my fellow CCs during my recovery.
Anyway, I would like to encourage some of the other GAGenWeb CCs to run for this important position, we need to be "heard" and represented.
Thanks for allowing me to be part of such a great team.

I've always felt that people should be asked before they are nominated, because it seems
like such a waste of time and energy otherwise. And, there's nothing wrong with people
speaking up if they want to be nominated (God bless them!) No, I'm not one of them, but I
appreciate them. ;-)

Kemis,
The nominations for The USGenWeb Project elections are anonymous but there
is nothing wrong with your writing to someone you wish to nominate and ask
if they are interested.

The announcement already includes the five day delay. The nominations
should have been done from the 1st to
the 14th. It's extended until the 19th to accommodate the delay. The way
it is worded is the cause of the confusion but we still have the
appropriate number of days.
