Please follow this advice even if you have been registered to vote in
past elections. I ran into some problems with my request for my
registration information so it's best to get the problems out of the way
now. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know.

iscoming up soon
*****PLEASE FORWARD TO ALL PROJECT LISTS*****
The deadline for registration for voting in this year's election is
rapidly approaching. The Election Committee has been working to clear
any data glitches, verified email addresses, and have attempted to
confirm positions with the appropriate XXGenWeb and Special Projects
over the last couple of months.
It would be prudent for all members to check their registration for
accuracy, and for those new members who have not registered to vote in
the annual election to do so promptly to secure your right to vote.
There are important issues to be decided, and every vote is needed so
that the views of the membership are known.
This evening I was able to check my own registration and found the
process
very easy. With the help of the EC Chair, these are the instructions
to
register and update your membership:
Register to vote and/or Update your membership:
http://www.usgwelections.org/USGenWeb/Register.cfm
1. Go to the above site.
2. Follow the instructions on the first page. These will tell you how
to receive a password if you have not already requested yours. Note
that this is *not* a voting password. This password is for the
registration records only. Your password will be emailed to you. 3.
Once you have entered your password and ID number, click on continue. 4.
The last box on that page, is "Vote in Elections?" Click that box if
you wish to register to vote. 5. Next, click on "Update Record". This
will take you to the page where you can view/edit your records. 6. Here
you will see the states and projects listed that the Election Committee
has verified in which you are a volunteer/member. 7. To edit the
information (i.e. add a county name), on the line that has that project,
click on "edit".
a. Once you have edited information, you must click on the "Click
this link" to save your information. 8. To add a new project, use the
boxes below and follow the instructions listed on the page. 9. There is
a link that says "no changes needed" that you can click on if your
information is correct. 10. The last page enables you to change your
password or you can click on "Finished".
The deadline for registering to vote in the upcoming elections is
midnight, May 31st.
It's a simple process, takes less than five minutes, and it's your
responsibility as members to insure your right to vote is protected.

Hello,
My name is Jeff Slakey and I have entered into a contest with public
radio. The point is to become the next great radio host. My idea for a
show is a genealogy show called ÂWhatÂs In A Name? I was wondering
if you could help me spread the word. Here is the link to my
submission. http://www.publicradioquest.com/node/278 . Perhaps you can
circulate this to people that share the same views on this subject and
they can vote and leave comments on what they think.
Thank you.

Ed,
I can't say enough about how great you've been to work with --- and I
really do wish we could twist your arm to stay. You've given us so much
peace and been so fair to all CCs.... your leadership has been wonderful.
Thanks for bringing this up early enough so thought can be given -- but I'm
still hoping you'll have a change of heart!

hmmmm - Ed - I resemble that remark. Now, I know what my problem is. LOL
All kidding aside, I do know what you are saying. MI has far less counties
than GA and at times it does get pretty tedious with people coming and going
and trying to keep up with sites that need to be adopted out. Lot of other
little activities that need to be taken care of too. Takes alot of time and
patience and the need does come when you need to kick back and relax.
Sooooooo - I hear ya - but, I still think that you have done a bang up job
with GA. You have my heart felt thanks for all you have done to keep us
balanced and a happy group. You too Vivian!
Hugs,
Jan

Hi Fellow CC's,
May 1st is almost here so I want to ask each of you to start thinking
about our State SC Election coming up in July ( I think that's when it
is anyway).
I want to say that I have enjoyed having the chance to Be SC and have
done the best that I could as your SC and hope that I met all your
expectations for a good SC. I have thought and thought about it and I
dont think that I will be seeking another term as SC. Some of you
consider giving it a try. I will let you know when the nomination period
starts so start thinking about who you feel will be an asset to GAGenWeb
as our next SC.
I want to thank Vivian for being our ASC during my term and couldn't of
done it with out her help..THANKS Vivian!!
Thanks again for giving me the chance and putting your trust in me to
take the helm for a couple of years. When I started 2 years felt like a
LONG time but it has seemed to fly by.
Your SC
