Good afternoon,
I am planning a trip to the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten,
Netherlands later this year. I'd be delighted to take digital photos of
markers in that cemetery for soldiers from your county or your own
relative. I just need a little bit of info from you:
1) soldier's name
2) plot location
You can find lists of soldiers (for the Army by county at the National
Archives: http://www.archives.gov/research/arc/ww2/army-casualties/georgia.html
and you can search the burial database at the American Battle Monuments
Commission site: http://www.abmc.gov/home.php/, specifically the WWII
database. If you put in your soldier's name (last name first name -- note
no comma!!), it will tell you if the soldier is buried overseas. If he is,
then it will tell you which cemetery and the plot number.
You can see some pictures I took on my last trip there at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~gacolqu2/Pix/Margraten/Margraten.html.
Let me also encourage you to visit any of these cemeteries if you ever get
the chance. It is an amazing experience.

I have not heard anything about any GenWeb doing RSS Feeds.

Does anyone know if the GenWeb is going to start doing RSS feeds, or have they already done so? I know it would be a great way for people to know when we have added content to the sites. Or is this something I need to program myself?
Any help appreciated,

Hi all,
I'm getting ready to put together an order for the genealogy department in the library that I work for and I would like to know if there have been any recent books that have come out for your counties. I'm particularyly interested in books that have come out the past 2 years or so as there hasn't been much ordering done last in the last couple of years.
We are trying to make sure that we have at least a history, cemetery and marriage book for each county if they are available. We have a pretty good selection and do have most of these books, but I'm sure there have been books published in the past two years that we might be interested in.
If you'll reply to me off the list at genlib(a)srlsys.org, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Melody McCook

Hey Yall,
The other day I received an email from a County Historical Society
stating that they found several Cemetery surveys that were taken from a
Book that a Lady did and that the family had renewed the Copyright in
1999 and they as me to remove them. With my not knowing anything about
the County in question I got some help from another CC and we went
through each and every Cemetery and found the Cemeteries that we felt
were transcribed from the book so we worked at it a couple of days and
removed all that we found. So I now ask each of you to be very careful
in what you get or transcribe for your sites and make sure its not
copyrighted. We dont want anyone getting thrown in the slammer over some
copyright infringement.
Be aware of what you put on your sites.
Thanks
Ed
Thank you for the replies. I have written the person back and tried to
explain to them again that it is possible the death was not recorded at the
state level and where else they can look.
I personally have not looked for a death record at the county level in
Georgia because the ancestors I am really interested in died long before
county death records were kept, besides one of the counties I am personally
interested in the courthouse has burned and the records are gone. Makes
proving relationships interesting.
