Here is a thread that the NC has started concerning the AB's SOP on
voting. I feel that we should wait untill the outcome of this topic
before we consider us (GAGenWeb) sponsoring the Amendment that Keith
brought up just before he resigned. By that time the By-Law committee
may have some suggestions on our voting rules. You can read the thread
here

In the past we have always used the 2/3rds Majority Rule I believe on
any votes we have had.

Yall are correct it is US!!

Hey Yall,
I got the email below and I asked some of the "old" CC's if they knew
of any such database and all said there was not such a database so I
feel if any of you have this on your sites I would like you to consider
removing it as its confusing/misleading to some researchers. A gentleman
asked me where this database was located so I had to tell him there was
not one.
Ed;
Question in regard to the following paragraph from Elbert Co.'s web
page:
In March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the
Georgia Comprehensive Genealogy Database. The idea was to provide a
single entry point for all counties in Georgia, where collected
databases would be stored. In addition, the databases would be indexed
and cross-linked.
Where can I locate this database.

Keith said "The answer to what will probably be the top questions: An
amendment proposal must be sponsored by one state, and co-sponsored by four others
before it is allowed on the next election ballot. Once it makes the ballot,
2/3rds of those voting must vote for passage, or the proposal fails. No other
state has seen this proposal."

Just as a refresher this is just for the GAGenWeb to Sponsor it then the
person/persons that wants to head this up will need to find 4 more
States to Co-Sponsor it before it can go to the National level.
If this is not right someone set me straight ok?

Hi All,
It is with great sadness that I have received Bob Franks Resignation as
CC for GAGenWeb. After talking with Bob I have accepted his resignation.
Thanks for all you have done for GAGenWeb Bob!!
You will be missed.
Ed Gordon
Just because some people may see Keith's resignation as an opportunity
(or a relief) does not change the fact that many people saw value in
the amendments.
I say we carry on and vote.

I'm not at all interested in carrying forth the sponsorhip of the ammendments and do
not
know why GAGenWeb has to be the one to initiate this. Hadn't heard
anyone mention it was a problem until Keith brought it up.
Debra Crosby
I also agree here with Deborah.
Valid is valid...

I ditto your thoughts. The 2/3 vote was done with a purpose and I don't
believe that it should change.

Hi,
The other day Keith asked me to post his National Bylaw amendment to the
list so I did. And I asked for your opinion as to whether we vote on
list or have a private vote. Then the subject came up about if a quorum
was needed and if so what number would it take to be a quorum. I then
asked the bylaw committee to work on a recommendation as to "if" and how
many it would take to have a quorum and that is going on right now. I
hope to have the committees recommendation in a few days or as soon as
they can.
Since the time I had asked the committee to work on the quorum issue
Keith resigned.
Now I need something from all of you.
Do we continue on with Keith's Amendments or do we not being he has
resigned? Its up to you all its your project.
Ed Gordon
Keith
Good luck with your future endeavors.

Keith,
Thanks for all of your hard work through the years. I remember working with
you on several projects for the Talbot County, Ga. page several years ago.
I've always admired your Wilkes County page and it has been such an asset to
Ga Gen Web. You have and will continue to be a friend to researchers in
search of records for their Wilkes County ancestors.
Carla Miles
Sorry to see you leave. Good luck and best wishes.

It's been nice working with some of you. (I haven't work with everyone.)
I have resigned my positions within GAGenWeb.
This is due to several reasons. I won't discuss them here. I am keeping
my Wilkes site as an independent. If anyone should need my help on
something of which i may be of assistance please don't hesitate to
contact me.
Take care folks,
Keith
