Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

A lot of the links were to teesee.com which is no longer with us.
If they are linked to you, the easiest thing would be to change the file name
for example from marriages.htm to marriages2.htm and put up a new file at
marriages.htm which says "
Welcome to Our Page,
We are part of Georgia Genweb which is manned by volunteers dedicated to free
genealogy on the internet. This link has changed please see out home page for
the new link. (Insert your homepage link here)."

Hi,
I wanted to pass this along in case someone any of you know is related
to these gentlemen. It would be a shame to miss the chance to honor
your relative. We will put the word out on our Terrell Co. pages.

I would like to place a query to help locate descendants of the Bryant
and
Caldwell families of Terrell County, but don't know what to do to
accomplish
that. There have been three Confederate veterans' tombstones found in
an old
warehouse which are to be placed soon and dedicated April 21st in
Bronwood.
The three men are Cicero Speight, Thomas Caldwell and William Daniel
Bryant.
We have found a Speight descendant, but none of the other two. We feel
that
this could mean a great deal to any descendants. The Stewart-Webster
Sons of
Confederate Veterans Camp # 1607 and Mary Brantley Chapter # 446 of the
United Daughters of the Confederacy are planning a joint ceremony. If
you
can place queries on Bryant and Caldwell, we would deeply appreciate it.

We are just about finished with our Madison County Census Project. We
purchased CDs for 1870, 1880, 1900, 1910, & 1920 Madison County GA Census
Images and S/K Publications put the images in the Madison County Archives.
A group of us have prepared indices for these images. 1920 Index should be
completed by the end of the month. These are full names indices with age
and also Rick Elliot (who has put the files together) has added soundex.
On of my copiers wanted to know if there are any other Georgia Counties who
have done this.

GAGenWeb Project Regional Coordinators
http://www.rootsweb.com/~gagenweb/regional.html
Fellow volunteers,
The USGenWeb Advisory Board is working on the application for registration
of our name (USGenWeb) with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO). To
properly accomplish this, we must hire an attorney to review the paperwork
and advise us as to proper procedures. The application fee is $325 but the
real cost will be the attorney fee. With attorney fees running upwards of
$75 per hour we are uncertain of the total amount needed for the filing. We
already have pledges from 60 members amounting to $2067, probably more than
enough to accomplish this very important task. But the Board feels that
everyone should be given the opportunity to participate in funding this
effort, and I agree.
It is my sincere wish that we could join together and, ideally, that each
member would pledge $1.00 toward this very important goal. This would be a
wonderful way to bring all into full participation in protecting our name
through PTO registration.
When we are certain of the total cost and the total number of persons
making pledges, we will call in pledges based on the maximum amount needed
per person, but in no case exceeding the amount of anyone's pledge. For
example, if $18 per person should be necessary to cover all costs, those
who pledged less than $18 will be asked to contribute their pledge amount
and those who pledged more than $18 will be asked to contribute only $18.
If you would like to join in this effort, please send an e-mail by February
1 to Joe Zsedeny, jzsed(a)westelcom.com, with a cc (carbon copy) to John
Schunk, jschunk(a)skpub.com, with (1) the amount of your pledge (any amount
from $1 on up) and (2) a yes or no as to whether it is OK to add your name
as a pledge drive participant at http://home.kscable.com/jschunk/pledge.html).
We would like to allow everyone who wants to participate to do so. Won't
you join in this very important endeavor?

Just wanted to let everyone know I've placed some Morgan County marriage
info on the GAGenweb Morgan County, GA page (see below). Just click
"Marriage Records." It's entitled Morgan County Loose Marriage Licenses
1818 - 1868. Mary Anne Abbe of the Athens Regional Library provided me the
typed index and I scanned and converted the data into text and HTML (and
Excel) format. There are around 1,300 of these marriages. Be aware of a
couple of things: these are not all the marriages from 1818 - 1868, my own
family marriages are not listed because they were recorded in a book; these
records have not been proofread and probably contain some errors; and please
don't bother the Athens Regional Library for these microfilm just yet.
They'll be cataloged and I'll let you know when Mary Anne advises me; I
haven't had time to break up the data into smaller portions, so the HTML
files will take rather long to load, but the text version loads fairly
quickly. I just wanted to get them out there so they could benefit someone.
Let me know what you think.

Gosh, Tim. Makes me wonder. I do a Missing Links article for my local paper
and I copy, word for word what I am sent via the internet. I also do the same
on my web page for Bartow County GA. in the Query section. Should I check
anything out on this. I thought this was my copyright.

Back on 12/25 or so, I posted the ditty entitled - 'I Want' to this
list.
At the time I was unaware that there was a copyrighted but differently
worded rendition on the web by a Ms. Brown.
Ms. Brown sent me a note requesting that I give her credit for what I
posted and claims copyright violation. Since what I posted was not her
original work, I can not do that.
I've asked the head of a writing center about this and was told that if any
violation had occurred it would be on the part of my source.
What I can do is explain the circumstances for my post. I
attributed at the time of my post my source of the ditty. I had
previously asked the permission of those folk to post the ditty giving
them credit.
I received that permission 15 Jan 2000. Since it was not the Christmas
season I saved it for December, 2000. I don't 'check' the Internet to
see if someone has copyrighted stuff before I post or pass along stuff
I receive. I doubt many folks do.
Had I known of Ms. Brown's work, I would have not posted what I did.
Tim
If anybody can help this person, please write to her, not to me.

Dear sir: I have been trying for months to find my husbands grandmother
that was borned and raised in Georgia. Her maiden name was Fannie Dubberly.
She married John "Dude" W. Carter (b. May 1894) abt. 1915. She was born 20
Aug 1889, died Feb. 1971. She was buried out from Alma, Ga. at a church
cemetery. I would like the name of the cemetery also. She lived in
Brunswick, Ga. at the time of her death. She and Mr. Carter raised 9
children just outside of Surrency in Appling Co. there is no record of this
anywhere. Could you please help me or direct me in the right path.

I was hoping someone else would do this, but since he isn't, I guess it is
up to me since I am helping with the booth in February.
I'm sure some of you, but possibly not *all* of you know about the GenTech
meeting in TX.
You can check it out here:
http://www.gentech.org/2001brochure/special.htm
There is a page Holly put together about us being there at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~nygenweb/gentech.html
with a list of who has said they are coming at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~nygenweb/gentechlist.html
Since Holly Timm and I are manning a booth for USGenWeb at GenTech and are
looking for brochures from all the counties that can possibly make one up.
We have a page set up with instructions and examples, so if you run into
any problems, please contact one of us.
http://www.rootsweb.com/~nygenweb/brochure.htmlhttp://www.rootsweb.com/~nygenweb/gentech.html
We'd love to see you all there, so please check out the details. We are
having an informal USGenWeb get-together Saturday after the GenTech stuff
is over and done with, so if you can, please try to make it so you can
finally put some faces with alllll those names!! <grin>
Hope to see you there!!!!
