WARNING! RANT AHEAD!
<RANT>
Enough is ENOUGH!!
I am sorry, but I am drawing the line with Web TV. It's enough to try to
keep page designs optimized for viewing with either of the two most popular
viewers, Netscape and MSIE, AND to make them backwards compatible to
outdated versions. Not to mention trying to accommodate viewers who might
be using antiquated equipment or visitors who have special needs. We are
information providers. We give of our time and energy trying to make
resources and information available to as wide a target audience as
possible, but for heaven's sake...this is getting out of hand! Some
responsibility has to be placed with the visitors who want to access our
pages! It is their responsibility to keep up with the pace of technology
and/or to seek out appropriate means for utilizing the resources we have
volunteered to make publicly available.
Web TV is the new kid on the block. They can either conform to existing
standards in web technology to offer a compatible product to their
customers, or their customers can find some other means of using the
resources we make available to them. If they have to, they can go to a
library, a cyber cafe, borrow a friend's computer, find someone to obtain
the information for them, use a service that permits them to access the
information in the way it was intended to be displayed, or use whatever
other method it takes to access and utilize the free information that has
been made available by VOLUNTEERS.
