Maria:
The search engine is an html based operation. It treats everything between
angle brackets as an html code when it returns a page. Therefore anything
enlosed in angles is either treated as an html command, or ignored if it
is a non-sensical command.
To avoid this problem in the future, do not include angle brackets in your
text files.

I have a person who contacted me about mistakes in the 1850 Monroe

census. I told him he had to contact the transcriber because only she could
get it changed, not me.
He said there was no email listed. I went to the Monroe site and clicked
on the census and when it opened the file DOES show her name and email
address.
So now we are going back and forth, both of us have been rude. But his last
email says that when he found the census through the SEARCH ENGINE. it does
NOT show the email address of the submitter.
What he sent me is this.....
The file you requested is shown below. The free access to this USGenWeb
Archives file is provided through the courtesy of

CNIDR Isearch-cgi 1.20.06 (File: pg0370a.txt)
CENSUS: 1850 Federal Census - Monroe County, KY 1850 Federal
Census (File 1 of 8)

BUT when I look at it from accessing the archives it DOES show the email
address. here is what I see when I access it via Monroe Archives.
CENSUS: 1850 Federal Census - Monroe County, KY 1850 Federal Census (File 1
of 8)

HOWEVER, I just noticed something. when I copied and pasted, her email
didn't c&p, I had to copy it again. IS it NOT showing up on the search
engine because it's in brackets < > ? Her email is listed as
<c_connor(a)msn.com> so it the search engine is not seeing it and how can
it show the file and not show that address when it's a text file?
I don't know, I give up, I tried searching from the Monroe site and when I
clicked on the link, the file did show me her email address.
