I believe all the files have been copied over to /state/county/census/
year
as of now, so they are up-to-date.

The ftp:// usgenweb/census directory is for Archives Census Project
standard files only, and the ones to which Maggie links to as such from
the census toc pages. Those toc's are mainly for recruiting purposes,
and to help researchers who come in that way. There are links from the
Census tocs to the state tocs.
Each archivist/file manager is encouraged to copy over the files from
the usgenweb/census project to their state/county/census directories.
Here, I encourage you all to use the additional /year/ sub-directory in
each /state/county/census/ . There were several different types of
census - federal, slave, agriculture, etc.
The USGenWeb Archives is an ftp-based project. The toc's are only for
the convenience of visitors. Some submitters like to see their names up
"in lights", while others are satisfied with only their name on the text
file. I'm one of the worse about not updating tocs. <g>
But please, copy the census files over to your state/county/
directories.
Linda
