Hi David-
Received your uploads from last week. I always check my links to make sure I did not do
a typo. This is what I found when I checked the links you sent to me:
/bibb/cemeteries/jonesch.txt (came up as Old City Cemetery)
THis is the Jones Chapel Cemetery. Look farther down the file.
That's okay, but at the header it states Macon Cemetery. No problem for me, may be
for those who are clicking on this link.
/hancock/cemeteries/culvert2.txt (came up as a complete? listing of
Culvert Baptist Church Cemetery). However, there are two previous
listings in the files from A-L & M-Z. Do we just add this listing to the
files?
Just link and add. They all appear to be different
No, they ARE different. There are two individuals files as listed above, and then one
that is a compilation of the two. Do I delete the files above and replace with the
culvert2.txt?
/seminole/cemeteries/william2.txt is William Cemetery
/seminole/cemeteries/williams.txt is Williams Family Cemetery
They are both Williams. They are two different cemeteries. That is why I made a report to
GAARCHIVE-L . Did you see it?
Yes, I did, that is why I am sending this question. When you click on the above texts,
you get the reverse of what you sent stated in your upload.
Also, can you help me with Schley & Sumter County. I was sent
two
cemeteries that I put into my Tombstone Project page. However, the links
are not showing on the page. Do you need to do something to get these to
work. Let me know.
Take the center tag out of this URL for schley and it will work.
<td><a
href="ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/schley/cemeteries/anpri...
ville National Cemetery</b></a></td>
There is no ftp URL, so there is no link.

I realize that I am still in the learning stage, so please do not
hesitate to let me know what to do. I may appear anal, but I just want to make sure
that I do it correctly. Thanks!
If you would provide the complete ftp URL when you have a question, I
could go look. I can't tell anything about these files this way.
Please make your reports, when you upload a cemetery, to the GAARCHIVE-L list, giving us
the COMPLETE ftp url, name of the cemetery, name ande-mail address of the submitter, and
file size (kb). On the day you
upload them.
Yes, I understand, and I would like the SAME from you (i.e. from counties other than
mine).
Why did you start using tohe soundex all of a sudden? It is okay, if the cemetery is
primarily one surname, but Whigham Cemetey and Perry's chapel are not about the
surname Whigham or Perry.
If you look at my Henry County cemeteries you will see that I have always used soundex.
Incomplete information of the above cemeteries appeared they were family cemeteries, and I
did not change the file names since it seemed a minor issue. I was told to use soundex by
Denise, and have not had a problem. I will gladly revert to using adams.txt, jones.txt.,
etc. from now on.
However, I have one final comment. I have worked my butt off compiling the cemeteries in
my county and now trying to do the Tombstone Project page. For the last two years I have
submitted over 100 cemeteries in my county, with little upload response from the Tombstone
Project manager - and multiple requests to Tim & Gerelyn. Yet, now that I am working
on the Tombstone Project page I am getting forwards that I need to take care of
"Bob" because he is planning to send a bunch of cemeteries. While that
irritates me a little bit, I am happy to respond because I KNOW how it feels.
I am TIRED of your condescending attitude to my questions, and your snippy replies to me.
This has not just begun. This occurred before I was in this capacity asking you various
questions. That is why I never notified you that I was the new manager for this site.
You may be the ultimate guru in how to do these things, but most of us are not. Most of
us are beginning in FTP, etc. But, the most important thing is that we are VOLUNTEERS!!!
We get little or no information on how to do the things we do, and we often make mistakes.
The procedures that you detail in your your "How To" are not like having
someone walk you through the process. If systems aren't in place for the average Joe,
then they aren't worth anything.
You are probably irritated enough to ask me to resign. You let me know if that is the
case. I want to help people, and I enjoy what I am doing, but I will be damned if you
will treat me like I am your employee!
From now on I am going to just do what needs to be done and if
individuals have a problem with getting into the system, YOU can deal with it.
