Greetings, Cousin!
I desc. from Evan Robert Lewis via son Evan ab Evan who had four children
come to America. I connect to his daughter Sarah.
I have been to Frongoch, the town and have spent the night at Fferm Fron
Goch, our ancestor's home. It was a B & B then. The person who lives there
runs her B&B across the road next to a field which was once the old whiskey
distillery and then later the North prison for Frongoch where Michael
Collins and other Irish were housed.
Thanks for the update on Google, etc.
Emily

Also for everyone's information, I thought everyone should know that there
is a free program called Google Earth. It was recently updated so that
you
can see all of Wales in detail. Google Earth also is three dimensional,
so
you can look at the terrain too. If you look at Frongoch, you can see all
the buildings, trees, hedges, powerlines, and even the white lines on the
roads. I thought I could see a ruin, but it may have just been a sheep
pen.
Anyways, the point is that you can see lots of stuff you can't see on the
ground, and you can see it wherever you have an internet connection. You
can download it at
www.earth.google.com
Microsoft has a free program called Virtual Earth, which is similar, but
doesn't have as high quality in Wales.
www.magic.gov.uk has high-detailed
topographical maps for free, showing most of the buildings. The Royal
Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales can be found
at
http://www.rcahmw.gov.uk/HI/ENG/Home/. It has high-detailed maps and
contains information on lots and lots of historical things including Fron
Goch (the dwelling). I thought these would be helpful sites for
researching
our ancestors.
