Greetings,
I have begun construction on the webpage, but wanted to know if any of you
would like to be a part of the decisions and construction? This is my
first attempt and many of you may have traveled this road already. Your
input is most welcomed. Some of these ideas may be unimportant to you and
others, repetitive, etc. There may be more important ones, as well. Let
me know.
I would rather not enter various lineages we have on our families. It may
be nice to have something on the families we know lived there, but not the
descendants in some form of ancestral/descendant chart. Not only could
that be too vast, it can change over time as resources become available. I
also believe in people doing their own research or doing it as a
cooperative group, so maybe my bias is showing! <G>
My middle name isn't Hemingway, so I am most willing to have you share in
editing my attempts as well as help write sections or just give ideas. For
example, maybe some of you would like to pick an ancestor and do a
biography on him or her. I am most willing to share in the credit for this
webpage.
At this time (hold me to nothing! <G>), I am envisioning several pages to
include these categories:
1. History of the farm with pictures and mention of the B & B (Once I
receive permission from the owners to advertise the B & B) This, of
course, would be updated when we get some info from the Rhiwlas Estate papers.
2. Genealogy -to include biographical info on prominent ancestors & on the
particular families that lived on the farm, and possibly a list of living
people who descend from the families at this farm. Perhaps a list of names
with or without email addresses showing the living descendants we've found.
ALSO, an invitation to join the email list providing they have a proven
connection to the farm.
I have begun with this list of prominent ancestors. There are many more,
but, whom else would you like to see on the webpage?
Rhodri Mawr: 844-877
Hywel Dda: 910-950
Gruffudd ap Llywelyn: 1039-1063
Rhys ap Gruffudd: c1133-1197
Giraldus Cambrensis: c1146-1223
Llwellyn Fawr
3. Bibliography which should list sources for all the info on the list as
well as book, etc. we have viewed on our lineage.
4. Research sources in Wales to visit.
5. Area Tourism to include sites in the general area and important sites
relating to the ancestors. Other places in the area to stay, things to do,
etc.
6. Other Links --various links to other webpages related to the
ancestors, to research sources, Welsh culture, etc. (What do you want to
see on this?)
Other possibilities:
A timeline of major events in Welsh History and/or our ancestors
A page explaining the Welsh naming process
A gazetteer with English and Welsh names of locales pertaining to our lines
in Wales with their locations; perhaps with English meanings
A map (if permission can be sought and granted --at least a web link to one)
The granting of a "certificate" for being a descendant of a family once
living at the farm. (Just for fun, but we could create a "Society of
Descendants of Fferm Fron Goch")
More ideas? Which of all these do we keep; which do we throw??
I would appreciate some response and NOT --"what ever you want to do"
Thanks,
Emily
