Beth (and everyone),
Your message below wasn't posted to the list, so I cleaned it up and am
posting it here. Hopefully, I didn't delete iimportant info. The reason
it wasn't posted to the list is because you didn't use plain text. Perhaps
you used some features such as color, bold, italic or something from a
Webpage. Many email programs ask you if you wish to "Send Styles" or
something similar. ALWAYS (EVERYONE) remove them before posting. RootsWeb
doesn't allow them as some people have very old email programs which don't
accept them.
Comments to Beth's email below:
Thank you Gary for sharing that book site. I did order the Merion in Welsh
Tract and put my name on the list for Welsh Founders. I would encourage
all of you to ask to be notified about the possible reprint of Welsh
Founders. There's no obligation to buy, but it may encourage the company
to reprint it and there are a few of us who want it. I also ordered
"Americans of Royal Descent."
Like Beth, I'm interested in the books below and would appreciate it if
everyone would be watchful of their existance and notify the list. (or at
least ME! <G>) It would be most helpful, if all of you would share your
list of sources (full bibliography, where possible) with the group. You
will find some of ours on the archives, I believe. As I am no longer
living where I once found all my books, I'm interested in buying what I
can. (Libraries here aren't great)
Does anyone have plans to visit Salt Lake in the near future? That may be
an interesting place for us as many of you can't go to Wales. I know there
are some old Welsh manuscripts there as I viewed them in the early 1980s.
Wishing all of you a WONDERFUL T-Day.....
Emily
Beth's email:
Hi and welcome Terry and Gary. It's nice to have you joining
the
list and it's nice to have someone else along Emily's (Sarah Evans')
line! Mine's from Sarah's brother, Thomas Evans:
Evan ap Evan
Thomas ap Evan (1651-1738) m. Ann ___
Evan Evans (1684-1747) m. Elizabeth Musgrove
Jonathan Evans (1714-1795) m. Hannah Walton
Jonathan Evans, Jr. (1759-1839) m. Hannah Bacon
Thomas Evans (1798-1868) m. Catharine Wistar
John Wistar Evans (1836-1873) m. Eleanor Tyson Stokes
Elizabeth Waln Cope Evans (1868-1952) m. Francis Goodhue
Elizabeth Evans Goodhue (1899-1989) m. Francis Harrar Diament
Martha Warnes Diament (1927-) m. William Wallace McMakin
Elizabeth Evans McMakin (me)
I, too, have record of the ship "Robert and Elizabeth", arriving 7/17/1698
with some 31 Evans'. I recently found the phone number of J. Morris
Evans, benefactor of Haverford Library's Special Collections and the
author of one of the family history books I have, and plan to call him
soon to ask about his resources, particularly regarding that ship. I'll
let you know.
It's ironic that Gary shared the Genealogical Publishing Co.'s web site as
I only just now found their 800 # (800-296-6687). The web site was an
even better idea & I promptly ordered a copy of "Merion in the Welsh
Tract" which they have in print (hear that Emily!). Thanks. In case
anyone's interested, I also inquired about the following ; they were all
either not in stock or not on their list.
"Evans, Americans of Royal Descent (Reddell)
"Americans of Royal Descent (Browning)>Welsh Settlement of Pennsylvania
(Campbell)
"Historical Collections Relating to Gwynedd (Jenkins)
"Social Mobility in a Quaker Family (Evans)
"Welsh Founders of Pennsylvania (Glenn)
"Heraldic Visitations of North Wales (Dunn)">
Emily, my ILL paperwork for Reddell's Royal Descent book doesn't tell me
what library it was copied from. I made myself a note to go and ask the
librarian ; maybe she'll be sympathetic
to another request from me (I might have to wait a little longer).; Not
being able to get a copy of this book even through ILL is driving us both
#%@$@7
Back to work. Happy Thanksgiving.
