Hi Cousins,
In reading Roy's letter just sent, I'll repost a letter from the secretary, I
believe, of the Foulke Family Assoication in PA. I've been reading about this time
& connection recently in Glenn's books, particularly "Welsh Founders of
PA". I thought she, or the group, might be a resource @ this point if there are
specifics to query since the Ffoulke pedigree is so solid. & maybe a Welsh contact?
She's also right in Quakertown. I spoke with a fellow @ the Germantown Historical
Society who remembers the big Foulke Reunion in 1998 as being quite amazing. Beth.

What a wonderful way to start a dreary Monday morning (it's raining cats & dogs
here in PA). We're glad you like the website, but I can not take the credit for it.
We have a young, budding genealogist who is currently a student in college and volunteered
to handle the technical aspects of it all. Several of us have submitted our databases,
but a caution - not everything has resources other than word of mouth with a lot obtained
at the 300 Year Reunion. I set up a bank of computers so that family members could come
in and see if they were in it and whether everything was correct. As you can imagine,
with over 800 cousins gathered at one time, things got a bit wild. There are still some
who filled out update/change sheets that we can't even tie in to Edward & Eleanor.
We know they do, but there's a generation or two missing.
I'd love to share information with you. As a matter of fact, there are Evans
descendants who are relatives ( a Foulke married into the family-several times) with whom
we've completely lost contact. It sure would be nice to fill in some more of those
"holes".
Specifically, we have two "lost" Evans lines.
1). Rowland EVANS, b.1718,d.1789, 2nd son of John & Eleanor (ELLIS) EVANS, married
Susanna Foulke, b. 3/17/1720, d. ???, dau. of Thomas & Gwen(EVANS) FOULKE. They had
six children - Cadwalader, John, Sarah, Ellin, Charles, and David. That's the last
information we have on them. Rowland's father, John was the son of Cadwallader &
Ellin (MORRIS) EVANS. Cadwallader was son of Evan, ap Evan, ap Ievan. Susanna's
father, Thomas, was the son of Edward & Eleanor (HUGHES) FOULKE. Edward was son of
Ffoulke, ap Thomas Lloyd, ap Thomas Evan Lloyd. Both sets of parents were immigrants from
Wales to Pennsylvania.
2).John EVANS,b. Feb. 1730, d. Sept. 1807, youngest son of John & Eleanor (ELLIS)
EVANS, married Margaret FOULKE, b. 6/19/1726, d. 5/6/1798, dau. Of Evan & Ellen
(ROBERTS) FOULKE, first cousin to his brother's wife. They had four children, Evan,
John, Cadwalader, & Rowland. We have no further information on Evan or Rowland. It
is believed that Evan died very young (1757). Rowland also died young, but would have been
about 30 yrs. old, so he could have had a wife & family.
(A.) Their son John, married twice: first to Gaynor IREDELL. They had two sons:
John F. (probably Foulke) EVANS,b. 1784, and Robert (probably Iredell) EVANS, b. 1785.
That's the last we have on these two sons. John's first wife probably died, but
we have no information other than several years later, John married again to Eleanor
YAXLEY, dau. of Napthali & Esther (FOULKE) YAXLEY. (There was a bit of a stink over
this marriage since Eleanor's mother was a half-sister to John's mother, Margaret
Foulke. Esther was the dau. of Evan & Anne (COUSLTON) FOULKE, Evan's second wife
following the death of his first wife.) John & Eleanor had four children: Rowland -
b.1802, Evan C. - b. 1805, Randolph W. and Esther. We have no other information on
descendants of any of these children.
(B). Their son Cadawalader, b.12/25/1762, d. 10/26/1841, married Harriet Verena
MUSSER, dau. of John MUSSER. They had 9 children: Juliana Doddridge, Margaret Eleanor,
John Glendour, Rowland Edanis, Edmund Cadwalader, William Elbert, Cadwalader, Manlius
Glendower, and Harriet Verena. We have information on only Edmund Cadwalader (Dr.),
William Elbert, Manlius Glendower & Harriet Verena, but most only go up to the Civil
War era, then we lose their lines also. If you have additional information on them, let
me know.
As for the Coed-y-foel of our ancestors, they came from Coed-y-foel Isaf. My father
(Raymond H. Foulke) and I visited the area in August of 1997 and stayed with the Davis
family at Fern Frongoch - just down the road a piece from Coed-y-Foel. We had a heck of
time finding it(Coed-y-Foel), because everyone kept telling us to turn right at the statue
- and there was no statue. They all forgot that to keep it from harm, it had been removed
during the Eisteddfod, which, incidentally was held in the fields just below Coed-y-Foel
on the Price's land while we were visiting. How handy!!! Needless to say, we spent
several days there. When do you plan on going back? Sorry this got so long, but
sometimes I get lost in this stuff.

Please feel free to call or send any updates you may have. Evan, son of Edward &
Eleanor was the only male line of the family not represented at the 300 Year Reunion. We
had descendants of five out of the nine children that came over in 1698 present.
