Greetings,
Just a sideline which may prove to be interesting later --
While in Wales, I stayed near Frongoch in a B & B called Melin Meloch
(Water Mill). The was a beautiful setting near the Dee River (more like a
creek in size!) with a lovely garden and ponds. I wanted to share with you
information from the brochure.
"Built on a Roman Road at the junction of the river Dee and the Meloch
Stream, Melin Meloch has a chequered history dating back to the 14th
century.
"Once owned by theh Princes of Wales for many centuries, it was lost
after bloddy battles between the King's barons and Llewellyn Llewellyn,
passing into english hands during the 14th century. It was subsequently
lost by the English at Bosworth Field at the start of the Great Tudor
Dynasty. Many centuries later, the Mill was still working and became a tax
collection point --as were many mills of this time. the last millers left
in the late 1950s and many local people still remember it as a working mill.
Some of the millers from melin Meloch moved to patagonia to establish a
Welsh colony which still thrives to this day....."
NOW, don't you just wonder WHICH Welsh princes and when? Could be ours!
