Greetings,
Remember my recent request about locating the people who came to PA this last
year!! THEY ARE FOUND!!
Our wonderful saint in Wales, Keith, just sent me their address and guess
where
they live! Coed y Foel Ichaf
Sound familiar! <G> I was planning to go there ever since Beth (wasn't it
Beth...or Sharon or Priscilla) had me trying to determine which of the two
locales of Coed y Foel were related to us. Ichaf is the name of the farm.
Anyway, I have the address and will write as soon as I can, as well as writing
Ifor. The people at Coed y Foel Ichaf (M/M Thomas) descend from the Foulkes.
FYI for the Trip Team -- Keith says Ifor suggests we make arrangements
once we
are in Wales. I will write him and suggest we have dinner the second night
there as we will all be tired the first night. and wanting to get to know each
other as well as have a tour of the house. The second night would be July 27
--correct? The restaurant would be Plas yn Dre (There really isn't much else
of size, etc. in town). It's on the west side of High Street (main street) on
the north end.
Priscilla, Keith tells me that Holyhead to Frongoch is about 2 hours with
cautious driving. He suggests if you don't want to come that far, he gives
the
following train info:
Trains: In this part of the world, trains are not very frequent. It would
probably be best to get a train from London to Chester ( a splendid Roman
walled city) and pick her up there - about 1 hr. 15 mins.drive or so from
Bala.
Or better still, get her to then pick up a local train to Wrexham (45 minutes'
drive) which is a smaller town and not so daunting to drive through. Think I
have a map I can attach to give you an idea. Wrexham is on the Map. Chester
lies just above Mold on the map but does not seem to be marked.
Priscilla (or anyone else), He did send an attachment which is a map, if you
are interested. I can't send it through the list, but can privately. ALSO,
I'm open to what you want to do. Just give me a time, so I can plan what I
will do for the day difference. (Sleeping in the car is NOT an option I want!
<G>)
WELL, this means that I only need to find the PUGH lines there that connect to
us. I know some of you are interested in this and I would like to try to find
our Pugh ancestors, so if you are connected, try to find out all you can from
this end before I go....maybe we will get lucky!
Still waiting to hear the testimated iimes of arrival at Fron Goch from
everyone. Let me know when you know.
How's everyone else doing? Digging in those films or library?
Best wishes,
Emily
