Dear all,
I have another book I forgot to tell you about. It is called
"Jonathan Evans and His Time, 1759-1839. Bi-centennial Biography. By William
Bacon Evans.
Jonathan was a well known and loved Quaker "preacher". I have not read the
book, but skimming the first chapters that contain his family background
might be of interest to some of you. It has much history of the Quakers -
esp. the split among them. Also pictures of the people mentioned in the
book. Let me know if anyone is interested and in what part. The book was
published by The Christopher Publishing House,1959. Library of Congress
Catalog Card no. 59-13244..
I found a new book at my library called "Mapping Time" The Calendar
and its history, by E. G. Richards. I thought I had better become better
educated on this subject so am now reading it. I found this quote which I
thought was very appropriate - "Writing a history book without making
mistakes is like living a life without sin; worth the effort but impossible"
- A. W. Crosby.
That is my thought for the day!
