Greetings,
What wonderful information has been posted these last two days or so!!
THANK YOU! You're a wonderful bunch. Ken, that was marvelous! I need to
get a copy of that book. Do you know what publisher may be handling it now??
Beth, Priscilla, Gee Gee....thanks!
Gee Gee --sure hope you find the info on the 1200s members of Fron-Goch.
To answer your quesiton. My goal this summer was to go to Frongoch to
determine which came first, the farm or town. I was hoping to find a town
with a library and in it a historian who could tell me. Well....I didin't
find a library and am not sure what I found could be called a town,
although it is, but I did answer my question.
The farm existed before the town. Fferm Fron-Goch is one farm on a larger
estate. The farm existed in the 14th centruy, at least. The owners told
me that was when the house was build. I will have to inquire more with
your reference to it in the 1200s. It could mean that the current home was
not the first. It is possible that the name Fron Goch belongs to more than
one farm in Wales. It means red hillside and that comes, I'm told from the
heather or other flowers that fill the hills of Wales at a certain time of
the year. Anyway, I was told the farm existed before the town. When and
if I go again, I'll try for more details and proof of that.
Also, Priscilla. I don't know what is in the Jonathon Evans book to know
what to have you share. Anything that relates to families that lived at
Fron-Goch is fine. Anything to help us add pieces to our lines...
BTW, here's the URL I was given when I inquired about the PA deeds that
included Robert Owens:

I've not had time to check it, but if anyone find something of interest,
let us know.
It's a busy week at school, but I'll try to absorb all that has been
posted....
Take care,
Emily
