Greetings,
First, I found this in Glenn's Welsh Founders....could it be the correct
Robert Vaughan, Roland???
1680. 9 Nov. bond, John Owen of Bala, in the county of Merioneth Robert
Vaughan of Llanyckill in said Co. and Rowland Owen of Llanfor in the same
County in favour of the Lord Bishop of St. Asaph. For the good
administraiton by "ye above bounden John Owen brother of Ellen Owen, wid &
Relict of Cadwallader (sic) Thomas ap Hugh late of Llandrillo in ye said
Counte deced. of the goods rights and credits Cattle and Chattles of ye
said Caddr Thomas ap Hugh" ... Sighned by John Owen, Robert Vaughan and
Rowland Owen. Wit: Jo. Roberts, cl'ro, George Salusbury, hen. Leishe (?),
To. Harpur.
(When Cadr Thomas died his bro John ap Thomas of Llaithgwm and Robert
Owen, bro of Ellen Owen were members of the Society of Friends and
therefore could not administer because of their inability to take the
prescribed oath. They had, also, because of their religious belief, been
convicted of treasonable offences. John Owen and Rowland Owen did not join
the Society of Friends.) ( Founders, p. 18; also see p.19)
This evening I received a letter from Mr. Robin Price, present owner of
Rhiwlas Estate. He was most gracious and offered to make a copy of the BBC
documentary (it doesn't not mention Fron Goch) and to tell me some history
of the Estate this summer. He feels it would be easier to tell me than to
write pages. I asked if I could bring a tape recorder, of course! <G>
We haven't heard from some of our more silent members. People have joined
us who haven't posted their lineage to the farm Fron Goch. As this list is
for descendants of that farm and as most of us know that lineage, this
isn't an email that will find you the connect. We focus on learning more
about the farm, the land and people from the late 1600s to the older times.
If you are a descendant, please refresh our memories with your connection
and update us on your genealogical research.
Thanks and best wishes,
