Randall,
Welcome to the list, double cousin! We relate on the Pugh and Evans line.
Do check the archives for a picture of Fron Goch (Fron Voch) as Ken put one
there. I also have a current one (July 1999), if you are interested.
Question: What is the source of Evan ab Evan being buried at Llanfor
Church? If that is so, I have a photo of Llanfor Church. I was told by
locales that it isn't the first one built, but they couldn't say when the
current one was built. I will try to find out on my next trip. There are
hundreds of tombstones surrounding the church, but I couldn't find any
Evans. Of course, the "hay" (very tall and then dry grass) was only partly
cut. Regardless, I couldn't find any stones with that old a date. Most of
the stones were Roberts and the man I met there was a Roberts.
I was told by the current owners of the Fferm Fron Goch that it is
extremely probable that the ship carrying our Evan crew (and probably the
Pughs) left from Liverpool--even at that early date, they said. Hopefully
everyone will try to find what they can on this, and perhaps those
interested in going to Wales this summer, could visit Liverpool to check
records from there. I understand that they can be more extensive than ours.
Let me know if anyone is interested in current photos inside Fferm Fron
Goch and/or Llanfor Church & surroundings.
Hope everyone had a WONDERFUL Holiday!
Best wishes,
Emily
